| MICHEL'S
CORAL GOBY Pleurosicya micheli Fourmanoir, 1971 These gobies live on the surface of corals, in Hawai`i usually species of Porites. Their transparent bodies contain an orange-red stripe; in strong light a series of reflective dashes along the top of the spine make the fish appear to glow from within. Most common in Hawai`i along the Kona coast of the Big Island, the species has a wide Indo-Pacific distribution. To about 1 in. Photo: Puako, Hawai`i. 30 ft. (on Finger Coral, Porites compressa) |
