PHRIKOCEROS sp. 3
Cory Pittman found this unusual lined flatworm in a tidepool at Kapalua
Bay, Maui, in April 2007. The closest worms in appearance which I was
able to find in Newman and Cannon's book and CD belong to the genus Prostheceraeus,
but the tentacles on this animal do not match that genus. However, a photo
from the Philippines taken by Mike Miller matches it quite well. The
University of Heidelberg website which posted it calls it Phrikoceros
sp. so we will provisionally place it in that genus too.
