Pericelis
sp 3
I found this under a slab at "Richardson's" in Hilo, Hawaii,
at a depth of about 50 ft. on Sept. 11, 2011. It closely matches "Pericelis
sp. 3" in Newman and Cannon's flatworm CD. The species' distribution
is given as Australia, Guam, Japan, and the Marshall Islands and it is
reported as "rare" in all those places. As no one seems to have
recorded it before from Hawaii, we can regard it as rare here as well.
Newman and Cannon give the following color description:
"Background
body colour cream to light brown with light cream spots forming a reticulate
pattern. Margin with smaller spots."
