Pseudobiceros hymanae Newman & Cannon, 1997. Halona Blowhole, O`ahu. 20 ft.
Note how close in color this is to Pseudobiceros periculosus.

More confusion: a photo of this flatworm swimming appears on p. 78 of the original edition of Hawaii's Sea Creatures, mistakenly labeled Pseudobiceros gloriousus. Dr. Leslie Newman had identified the photo as Pseudobiceros gloriosus because P. hymanae had not yet been described, so that's how it was listed in the book. A larger photo of the true P. gloriosus, taken outside Hawai`i by Leslie Newman & Andrew Flowers, appeared beneath it. That photo was removed in the Revised Edition, and the ID has been corrected. Most likely P. gloriosus does not occur in Hawai`i.

Pauline Fiene photographed the worm above at Molokini Islet, off Maui.. It's probably P. hymanae, but does show some differences.
