Cestoplana sp. A
photos: Patricia Daly, Maui.

Patricia Daly photographed this beautiful, long, pale pink worm at a depth of 18 ft. off the south shore of Maui in June, 2022.
She writes:"It was unrecognizable as a flatworm when I came upon it because it was just a bump in the sand with maybe a fraction of pink showing which caught my eye. As I watched, it unfurled itself into the worm (I started laughing)." It has a dark pink central line running the length of the body, a wide, fainter pink submarginal band, and a narrow pale margin. It clearly resembles other worms in the genus Cestoplana, but none of the several species on the Newman & Cannon CD exactly matches it.
