Euryleptid 9
top photo: specimen collected by Darrell Takaoka, Waikiki, O`ahu. 2 ft.
bottom photo: Magic Island boat channel, Oahu. 15 ft. (at night)

Specimens sent to Leslie Newman. ID from Newman & Cannon CD where the top photo appears. "Background body colour mottled brown and white (composed of dots), tending to white towards the margin, then translucent with a narrow yellow rim. ... Generic determination not confirmed." Known to date only from Hawai`i.

A photo of this species appears in Reef and Shore Fauna of Hawaii, section 2, plate 2.I.3e with this caption: "?Pseudocerotid sp.: Kewalo, Oahu, intertidal under rocks; length ca. 20-40 mm."

Similar to Pseudoceros heronensis and listed as such in Newman & Cannon's 2003 book. Newman changed her diagnosis to Euryleptid 9 on the CD, published in 2004. However, the CD still lists P. heronensis as occurring in Hawai`i. Even Homer nods ....
