"Hyman's Flatworm"

Update: Some authorities place both this species and Pseudobiceros periculosus under the name Pseudobiceros splendidus

Velvety black with wide orange marginal band and narrow black rim. Marginal band does not continue completely across pseudotentacles. Underside is gray-black. Pseudotentacles are square and ruffled. Occurs from South Africa to Hawai`i and is common in much of its range.

Named for American zoologist Libbie H. Hyman (1888-1969), an authority on free-living flatworms and author of a widely used textbook on invertebrates.

Similar to Pseudobiceros cf. gloriosus but in that species the marginal band continues completely across the pseudotentacles.

Similar to Pseudobiceros periculosus and P. flavocanthus, but those worms lack the narrow black rim.
