Thysanozoon or Acanthozoon sp. 9
photo: Olie Turner, north shore of O'ahu, August, 2023

A new record for Hawaii, and possibly a first outside Indonesia as well. The ID is from the Newman and Canon "Fabulous Flatworms" CD issued in 2004 and now sadly out of print. The authors write: "Background colour black. Dorsal papillae numerous, short, round. Margin irregular, composed of white dots.... Generic determination uncertain. Distribution: Rare, Indonesia."

Update September 2023: It's possible that the worms included here as Thysanozoon or Acanthozoon C are young specimens of this species. Photo three of "C" seems to show an intermediate color pattern.
