Sharon Williams
SPOTTED PUFFER yellow color variant
Arothron meleagris (Lacapede, 1798)
Although this puffer is typically black or with numerous small white spots, some individuals are all yellow with a few dark spots, or partly yellow, partly brown, with dark or white spots. These color variants are rare in Hawaii, though not uncommon in some parts of the Indo-Pacific. Sharon Williams photographed this all-yellow specimen off Kaiwi Point in Kona, Hawaii in June of 2009.
